We are interested in reaching out to the creative community to provide a public space to display local artists regardless of age, race, or experience. We hope that in providing a space for the showing, we will encourage, through visibility, creative endeavors.

Art will be displayed at the Egyptian Theater in downtown DeKalb April 3rd - May 3rd.

Artists can upload as few as one (1) or up to four (4) individual pieces. Not all artwork that has been submitted may be picked to display. An artist may submit four pieces and only one may be picked. Any and all artwork that is submitted should be ready to hang.

Artwork selection will be done a month prior to the gallery opening and participants will be notified of their selection via email. A panel of judges will review the submissions and select the artwork to be included in the exhibition.

Please provide an artist biography about yourself to be displayed next to your work. The biography should be written in third person narrative.

Creativity

We accept any and all original art pieces. 

 

Fan art (comic, anime, cartoon, movie, book, etc.), scrapbook and collage pieces, and "inspired by" pieces are allowed to a certain degree.

 

If any question comes into wherther the art is thought to be plagiarized then the piece will not be accepted.

Requirements

-No larger than 48x60

this measurement includes any frame that the artwork is hung in.

-Original & non plagiarized

-Fully finished

-Hangable with a wire strung across the back so that it can be hooked to the wall hanging.

Accepted Medias

Anything that is able to be hung on a flat wall surface!

Accepted:

Acrylic, oil, gouache, photography, watercolor, pencil, crayon, pastel, marker, collage, etc.

Not accepted: 

Jewelry, ceramics or pottery, wood carvings, concrete works, etc.

Judging Criteria

Our jury will be judging based on individuality and creativity.

 

Since this show has no theme and no color palette we are hoping to recieve a vast amount of different styles, art forms, and themes from the artists within our community. 

More focus will be put towards choosing never before seen artwork that is striking and memorable.
